About the Role
Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council is seeking a Mechanic (Grade 5) to join the Building Services & Maintenance team within Regeneration & Community Services. This temporary role provides essential cover for a vacancy where recruitment has been unsuccessful, ensuring continuity of service and vehicle maintenance across the council’s transport operations.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical repairs and maintenance to council vehicles and equipment.
Ensure all works are completed to required quality standards, specifications, and within agreed timescales.
Diagnose faults and undertake remedial work as required.
Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation and council policies.
Report defective materials or equipment to the relevant manager.
Work collaboratively within the Neighbourhood Services Transport team to deliver effective services.
Take responsibility for tools, equipment, and materials assigned to the role.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a skilled mechanic who can demonstrate:
Experience in vehicle maintenance and mechanical repair.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong knowledge of health and safety requirements.
