We are now looking for a new Technical Buyer at our HQ site in Peterborough.
TECHNICAL BUYER
As a Technical Buyer, you will play a key role in sourcing and purchasing mechanical parts essential for our manufacturing processes. You will work closely within our local procurement team, also ensuring compliance with our Group policies and contributing to the achievement of our strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers for machined and welded mechanical parts
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand technical specifications and requirements
Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs and lead times
Improve the quality of purchased parts, conducting supplier performance evaluations, and strengthen partnerships with our strategic suppliers
Manage purchase orders and track procurement activities
Follow group policies, procedures, and KPIs to ensure alignment with corporate objectives
Continuously seek opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement
Candidate Profile
Proven experience or relevant training in mechanical engineering or a related field. Knowledge of mechanical components, machining, and welding processes
Previous experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience in the manufacturing of welded or machined mechanical parts will clearly be a plus, even without prior purchasing experience.
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems
Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven
