Edward Vinson Ltd is based in the South East of England and has been growing fruit for over 150 years and now consists of three main departments: Breeding, Propagation and Commercial field production.
Between January and April, our farm prepares for the picking season, and we have various tasks that require dedicated and hardworking individuals. As a Field Worker, your responsibilities will include:
Planting: Assisting in planting crops for the upcoming season.
Fleecing: Applying protective fleece to crops.
Tunnel Work: Building new tunnels and ensuring proper ventilation by lifting heavy nylon coverings.
Field Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining the fields.
Packing: Preparing produce for dispatching.
General Husbandry: Assisting with various farm-related tasks.
Late March - Early April Tasks: Runner cutting, stringing, weeding, pruning, and truss control.
April Onwards: Engaging in the meticulous process of picking crops from mini table tops fields.
Being prepared for tasks involving bending and heavy lifting, especially during peak picking periods.
Working Conditions: You will be working both in open fields and under poly tunnels. The work involves heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and stretching on a frequent basis. Tasks are physically demanding. We are looking for candidates who are physically strong and able to handle heavy lifting and manual labour, flexible and adaptable to perform a variety of tasks, willing to work on a piecework basis, open to training and learning new skills.
No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.
