Are you a highly organised people-person with some experience in housing administration / finance, looking to engage positively with colleagues and tenants whilst developing your skills in a role with varied responsibilities?

We are a membership organisation founded in 1976 with 104 housing units spread across North Islington. We’re looking for a confident, proactive, IT-savvy Administrator / Finance Officer to assist in the smooth running of a small office, to both promote and support membership activities, reconcile rent accounts and invoices for payment.

You will be looking for a new challenge and have a passion to deliver exceptional customer service.

The Role

We are a membership housing organisation and you will be a key link with our members.

No two days will look the same: usual administration tasks, organise hybrid general + smaller meetings, update members’ information (status and housing need points), input & reconcile rents check works invoices vs orders, and administrate day-to-day maintenance in liaison with the Neighbourhood Manager.

All with the commitment to provide a first-class experience for all parties.
You will be trusted to make decisions, keep processes moving, take initiatives with members and represent ICHC professionally at all times.

Your day-to-day will include:
• Ensuring voicemail messages are relayed to colleagues, and following up relevant ones in a timely manner
• Contacting members regarding their status, keep track of their participation
• Liaising with and supporting the Board and three committees in delivering to their Terms of Reference
• Working with the Chair of the Board to help quarterly meetings run smoothly: completing the agenda is, gathering papers from staff and others as relevant and circulating them at the appropriate time
• Working with Officers and the Manager to organise both quarterly hybrid general meetings and the Annual General Meeting at a local outside venue(s),usually involving light catering and the setting up the AV system and making sure the agenda and relevant papers are circulated in a timely manner. Communication to members should be comprehensive and clear
• Preparing our own meeting room for committees and ad hoc meetings
• Building strong and positive relationships across our membershipApplying annual new rent levels to all accounts (with support from the Finance Manager)
• Sending annual rent increase letters to all member/tenants in time for the new financial year
• Inputting and reconciling rent
• Liaising with external agencies such as Housing Benefit and Universal Credit to support member/tenants and ICHC’s rent collection
• Sending monthly rent account reports to member/tenants
• Implementing the rent arrears recovery policy (with support from the Neighbourhood Manager)
• Providing admin support for day-to-day maintenance and invoice approval

This is a full-time, office-based role (Monday to Friday) which our small team shares with our Camden partner membership organisation. You will benefit from the knowledge and experience of a peer who delivers the same service to North Camden Housing Co-operative. You will also be working closely with our external Finance Manager.

• Preferably with some experience in tenanted housing, whether in the private, public or voluntary sector
• A personable, energetic, and professional manner
• Strong teamwork skills
• Self-motivation, with a “can-do” attitude
• A proactive problem-solver with exceptional communication skills
• The ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-moving environment
• Proficient and confident with IT systems
