They will clearly and confidently set the pace and bring expertise and experience to help Nest mature its thinking and ambition in this area.
Key stakeholders include our ExCo and Board, our Nest Leadership Community and our Responsible Investment team, who are recognised in our industry for their advanced work in sustainable investing, to bring their expertise and perspectives together in an aligned approach that means Nest itself can be proud to meet and even exceed the goals we set for the management of members’ investments.
This role will have one team member – the DE&I Business Manager – who will work closely with them to integrate the progress we’ve already made in this area into the broader Sustainability approach, and to expand this beyond our colleagues to include our members and communities too.
The Head of Enterprise Sustainability will report to the Chief People Officer (CPO).
The minimum criteria for this role are:
- Sustainability expertise, including a strong understanding of social and community impact assessment, government regulations and climate change mitigation, preferably in a financial services context

- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; able to set clear individual and team expectations, goals and measures, foster an environment of open dialogue and collaboration; confidently navigate through change ensuring each team member and stakeholder is motivated and empowered
Don't worry if you think you don't have all the key skills, it might be worth taking the few minutes to apply as we're good at spotting potential and offer a generous training budget.

Directorate/Department Overview
The People & Culture team is responsible for ensuring that Nest has the right culture, capacity and capability to deliver on our Corporate Strategy and achieve our purpose – financial peace of mind for all.
Serving our members and our communities requires us to take an Enterprise-wide approach to sustainability (in environmental, social and governance terms), keeping our members and our purpose at the centre of our goals while driving meaningful progress across the whole organisation. We’ve made a strong start with our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion internally, and more broadly in our industry, with significant progress towards our DE&I targets. Now we need to develop a coherent and consistent set of principles that will articulate the Nest point of view and enable targets to be set across a broader range of Sustainability goals that will drive action and align enterprise-wide activity, reporting and culture – from colleague experience through to member impact.
Our People & Culture ambition is to create the best possible working lives for our colleagues, modelling the high standards of stewardship we hold for our members’ investments, and in doing so help to build a more sustainable and inclusive financial system.
