This is an exciting opportunity to join one of our professionally challenging and rewarding justice social work teams. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of service delivery within a court and Drug Treatment and Testing Order Team.

The main duties of the post will include providing the full range of social work tasks associated with the provision of information and advice to courts, and the assessment and supervision of service users subject to Drug Treatment and testing Orders. This includes providing verbal and written reports to court in relation to bail, standdown reports, and short timescale Justice Social Work Reports. Interviewing service users following remand, custodial sentence, or a community disposal, representing Renfrewshire Justice Social Work within the court setting and liaising effectively with all relevant statutory and voluntary agencies.

You will assess and supervise service users subject to Drug Treatment and Testing Orders in conjunction with health colleagues, monitoring compliance and initiating breach proceedings, in line with legislative requirements.

You must have a BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent and be registered with the SSSC.

It is essential that you have experience in justice social work together with the ability to work under pressure and produce verbal and written reports in court when called upon by the sentencer; effective communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work on own initiative.

A flexible approach to working some evenings, occasional Saturdays and Public Holidays when the court is open is also essential.

Training in risk assessment such as LSCMI, RM2000, SA07 and VISOR is desirable.

Experience of multi-agency working, liaison with a range of agencies, and of social work within a substance misuse setting is also desirable.

Full training and support will be given to ensure that you are able to maintain the service’s commitment to continuous improvement.
