Summary
An inclusive and nurturing infant school in Wokingham is seeking a Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualified Communication Support Worker to join their dedicated team from December 2025.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young deaf or hearing-impaired pupil, helping them access the Early Years or Key Stage 1 curriculum and thrive in a warm, caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for a pupil with hearing impairment
- Use BSL to facilitate effective communication between the pupil, their peers, and staff
- Support learning activities both in and out of the classroom
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists
- Promote inclusion, confidence, and independence throughout the school day
The Ideal Candidate
- Holds a Level 3 qualification in British Sign Language (BSL) - essential
- Has experience working with young children in an educational or care setting
- Demonstrates a calm, patient, and child-centred approach
- Works effectively as part of a team and follows support plans
- Has a genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional communication needs
Hours: Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm (term time only)
Location: Infant school in Wokingham
