What is the job role?
Safeguarding in Education Adviser in Coventry City Council Children’s Services.
You will represent children’s services and education in multi-agency forums including Safeguarding Reference Groups with Headteachers and wider professionals across the organisation, hosting DSL Briefings regularly with schools across the year, leading Safeguarding Audit visits to act as a 'critical friend' to Coventry's schools to support in strengthening safeguarding practice in education settings, and will lead on the development and delivery of a comprehensive and robust safeguarding training programme that meets the needs of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), Head Teachers, teaching and non-teaching staff and governors.
You will be joining the specialist multi-disciplinary Risk Management Team where the core function is the strategic management and delivery of Coventry’s Safeguarding In Education service, LADO and Quality Assurance activity and scheduling across Social Work teams.
Who are we looking for?
You’ll need
You will be educated to degree level and be a qualified teacher or qualified social worker with demonstrable experience as a designated safeguarding lead or similar. You will have the skills and proven ability to support, advise and challenge the performance of 0-18 education providers in respect of their safeguarding practice, policies and procedures.
You must be able to work with a level of professional responsibility and autonomy and be able to analyse and respond to complex situations across education and children’s services.
