Job Description

Job Purpose:

To lead and coordinate the delivery of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award across Moray. The DofE Officer is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective infrastructure to ensure inclusive, safe, and high-quality opportunities for young people. The role involves partnership development, volunteer support, training and strategic planning

Requirements

This post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act, it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. The successful candidate will therefore be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.

Responsibilities

Administer all aspects relating to DofE for Moray including co-ordination, planning, monitoring, reporting, evaluation, edofe, Evolve and financial processes.

Build a sustainable volunteer network for DofE Moray

Foster and develop good working partnerships such as: Youth Work, Outfit Moray, Moray DofE Committee; DofE Scotland, schools, parents, relevant community groups and the local business community.

Assist in regular consultations/needs assessment exercises with coordinators/ participants to ensure that the service is responsive to need.

Participate in staff meetings and training events as deemed appropriate by line-management.

Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures of Moray Council.

The Individual

♦ Clearly demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the DofE award.

♦ Significant experience of work in a range of youth work settings with a variety of different needs

♦ Extensive experience of work in the outdoors with young people and adults

♦ Expedition & Residential experience

♦ Project management experience.

♦ A relevant degree related to CLD youth work or education

♦ Evidence of continuing professional development

♦ ICT literate and effective literacy & numeracy skills

♦ Ability to accurately record information, create reports & information systems

♦ Training delivery

♦ Report writing experience

♦ Ability to deliver training for accredited courses

♦ Group work delivery

♦ Mentoring of staff/volunteers

♦ Project management skills including ability to use management information systems.

♦ Ability to deliver opportunities based on learning outcomes

♦ Enjoyment of working with challenging young people or adults as participants or volunteers in the outdoors

♦ The post holder will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car.
