Religious Minister / Chaplain - Dungavel IRC

Salary - £21,834.63

32 hour Permanent Contract

Mitie Care & Custody are responsible for delivering the end-to-end management of all residents' needs until the outcome of their case is decided by the Home Office. This is balanced against the competing pressures of safety, security, welfare needs and regime.

Job objectives and responsibilities

To assist in delivering a comprehensive programme of worship and teaching opportunities for all faiths in line with contractual requirements, company standards and resident needs.

Main duties

-Promote, facilitate and deliver opportunities for worship and study for a faith group including all necessary arrangements or protocols for emergency contact in line with contractual requirements, company standards and resident needs.

-Facilitate and deliver services, programmes, activities and visits, liaising with external religious contractors, accredited religious representatives and volunteers to meet contractual requirements, company standards and resident needs.

-Assist in the development of links with outside faith communities so the support provided within the Centre is current, in line with best practice and caters for all faiths.

-Contribute to the maintenance of the dedicated faith areas ensuring an appropriate environment is provided.

-Acquire and distribute within home faith group, after appropriate agreement and authorisation, religious literature, supplies and materials allowing residents to fully discharge their commitment to their faith.

-Advise the Religious Affairs Manager, religious team and operational management team of relevant religious events including festivals, fasts, feasts to ensure that wherever reasonably possible residents can fully observe them.

-Maintain a stock of appropriate religious artefacts for a faith group which will allow residents to fully discharge their commitment to their faith.

-Provide pastoral care to residents, staff and their families to assist in their safety, care and wellbeing.



Person Specification

This is a specialist position requiring appropriate qualifications and experience of organising and leading religious services.

We welcome applications from ordained ministers, Imams, Rabbis,priests, pastors, and other accredited religious leaders who:



-Are experienced in leading worship and providing pastoral care.

-Hold appropriate theological or ministerial qualifications.

-Are committed to interfaith collaboration and respectful dialogue.

-Can work within a secure environment with sensitivity and discretion.

-Are passionate about serving those in need, regardless of background or belief.



Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of the role, all applicants must:

-Be a UK citizen, Citizen of the Commonwealth with your own indefinite leave to remain (not through marriage) or EEA citizen.

-Have a valid and in date passport, with no restrictions on your stay in the UK. Please note Visa's in out-of-date passports cannot be accepted as proof of Right to Work in the UK. A Biometric card alongside a current in- date passport must be provided.

-Have continuously resided in the UK for the past 3 years. (No trips overseas longer than three months)

-Applicants must not have spent more than 3 months at any one time overseas during the previous 5 years.

-This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and Applicants must be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, complete employer referencing for the previous 5 years and vetting to the level of Counter Terrorist Checked (CTC) if offered a role.

-Full UK manual driving licence with no driving ban or disqualification within the previous 5 years.

-Not currently bankrupt.

-Pass enhanced background checks including criminal record, financial history, and social media screening.
