Job Summary: Specialist THRIVE Practitioner (SEND/Autism Support)An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated THRIVE Practitioner to join the founding team of a new SEND Secondary School (Ages 11-16) in the Redhill, Surrey area, opening in September 2025. We are urgently recruiting candidates with expertise in the THRIVE Approach (or relevant training) and significant experience supporting students with Autism (ASD), emotional regulation, social communication, and challenging behaviours. This permanent, term-time-only role offers an actual salary of £27,713 - £30,250 per annum, plus a £2,000 Welcome Bonus for candidates with relevant SEN experience. Role Overview & Key DutiesThe THRIVE Practitioner will be pivotal in fostering students' social, emotional, and behavioural development, working closely with the Pastoral Lead and SENDCo to manage the THRIVE provision.
Key Duties Include:
- Emotional & Behavioural Support: Utilise specialist skills (ideally THRIVE training) to support pupils' emotional development and manage challenging behaviours.
- Provision Management: Support the day-to-day running of the THRIVE provision, ensuring effective supervision and strategy implementation.
- Intervention Delivery: Deliver targeted 1:1, small group, and class group sessions, using play and arts-based activities to facilitate experiential learning.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Establish constructive relationships with young people, staff (providing training and feedback), parents, and families.
- Assessment & Reporting: Accurately assess pupil progress, contribute to up-to-date action plans, and provide objective feedback to teaching staff.
- Safeguarding: Promote inclusive practices and demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and Child Protection procedures.
Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
We seek professionals committed to child development and therapeutic educational support.
- Education: GCSE Maths and English Language (minimum Grade 4 or equivalent) are essential.
- Specialist Knowledge: Relevant knowledge and experience working with pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and experience with challenging behaviours.
- Theoretical Understanding: Knowledge of child development and attachment theory.
- Experience: Relevant, up-to-date training for the role and experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Desirable Training: THRIVE training, Norfolk Steps, or Team Teach training (or willingness to undertake).
