We are seeking a friendly, efficient, and patient-focused GP Receptionist/Care Navigator to join our busy practice team. Experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided for the right candidate. Familiarity with EMIS Web and Docman is an advantage but not required.
This role is part-time, working 1PM – 6:30 PM WEEKDAYS, with additional hours required to cover annual leave and sickness. Flexibility is essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Providing a high standard of customer service by answering and directing patient queries via telephone, email, and face-to-face.
Booking, cancelling, and managing appointments on the clinical system.
Processing repeat prescription requests accurately and within agreed timescales.
Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks including scanning, coding, filing, and managing incoming correspondence.
Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare professionals when required.
Assisting with referrals, medical reports, and other administrative workflows.
Maintaining a well-organised and professional reception environment.
Supporting day-to-day practice operations and completing ad-hoc administrative duties.
Providing effective signposting (Care Navigation) to ensure patients access the right service at the right time.
Essential Skills
Strong IT skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
Confident, clear listening skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Good English language ability (speaking, listening, reading, writing).
Strong organisational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work independently as well as within a team.
Reliable, patient-focused, and professional.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting.
Knowledge of EMIS Web and Docman.
Understanding of confidentiality, data protection, and patient-centred care.
