Summary
This exciting role to work within the clinical imaging department to train as an apprentice radiographer under the Diagnostic Radiographer Apprenticeship Programme.
This role will be supervised at all times by a registered practitioner.
The apprentice will work as part of a multi- disciplinary team and provide a key role in imaging, caring and supporting individuals during their time in clinical imaging.
Apprentices will be working towards completing a Diagnostic Radiographer degree with the University of Exeter.
During the 3 year apprenticeship the post holder will be expected to be at their workplace 37.5 hours a week – with 20% of this time protected to study. The apprentice will also be expected to complete 3, 5 day blocks at the University of Exeter per annum. Attendance to these times is essential and annual leave must be arrange on working week.
The role will be based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital site with the opportunity to experience specialist imaging modalities at other trusts throughout training.
The successful applicant will be required to work a 37.5 hours per week.
Core hours in first and second year will be worked on a rotational basis, between 8:45 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday. In third year the hours can include out of hours shifts.
Please Note:With the advent of 7 day working within the NHS, then Saturday/Sunday working may become a future requirement.
20% of clinical weeks are protected study.
· To work part of a team responsible for providing efficient imaging services to the Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust.
· Attend all tutorials, virtual and webinars- completing e-learning as instructed by the university.
· Make a commitment to attend mandatory blocks of training at the University of Exeter
· Attend tutorials and teaching events arranged by the Clinical Imaging department
· Attend regular tutorials with your clinical advisor.
· Work within your competencies
· Report any faults or issues in line with the department processes.
· Prioritising tasks under the supervision of a registered practitioner. Aid in making the department work more effectively.
· Attend departmental staff meeting.
· The post holder will be required to actively participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.
· Use equipment safely and instructed.
· Participate in the radiographer shift rosters.
· Attend mandatory trust training.

· Make a commitment to study both within working and home during the duration of the apprenticeship
· Perform a range of radiographic imaging procedures as detailed within the apprenticeship programme, within the department and at all times supervised by a qualified radiographer.
· Take part in audits
· To ensure that the Ionising Radiation Regulation 2017, IR(ME)R 2017, Health and Safety at Work Act and other national, trust and local policies are practices are understood and adhered to in respect to staff, patients and members of the public.
· Being able to plan and successfully undertake academic parts of the apprenticeship whilst achieving high clinical competencies.
· To under take studying both within clinical practice and at home.
· Ensure safe levels of stock are in stock and ordering when agreed.
· Training other members of staff/ students in induction
· Support HCA and work with them.
· Uses of the hospital and radiology IT systems PCAS, and RIS
