This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rowing coach to play a key role in a thriving Boat Club with a long-established national reputation for Rowing from January 2026.
As Assistant Head of Rowing you will play a core role in the coaching and day to day organisation of Rowing at St Edward’s, promoting the enjoyment of the sport and encouraging and inspiring pupils to compete at the highest level of school and youth international rowing.
You will deputise where appropriate for the Head of Rowing and take Lead Coach responsibility for a year group or groups, developing individual and crew skills.
Attendance at both land and water sessions across all squads, in addition to Head Races, Regattas and Training Camps where appropriate, will be a key requirement.
A competitive salary with excellent benefits is offered, and accommodation may be available.
About you
In addition to extensive Rowing coaching experience you will have a British Rowing Coaching Award, preferably UKCC Level 2 or equivalent, with a RYA Level 2 Powerboat License, or equivalent qualification.
You will also need a full clean UK Driving Licence, preferably with the ability to drive a minibus and/or boat trailers.
The ability to work with a range of abilities or aspirational rowers is equally important.
In return, the School offers an attractive benefits package including:
• A friendly and inclusive working environment
• Opportunities for training and further personal development
• Free Nuffield Health Gym membership
• Free on-site car parking
• Cycle to work scheme
• Employee assistance programme
• Defined contribution pension scheme with Scottish Widows. The standard employee contribution rate is 5% with the employer contributing 8%. Enhanced contributions by the employee will be matched by the employer, up to the cap of 12%
The closing date for applications is Friday 21st November 2025 at 9am with interviews likely to be scheduled for week commencing 24th November 2025.
We reserve the right to conduct interviews and appoint for the role before the advertised closing date should a suitable candidate be found. Therefore, early applications are encouraged.
St Edward’s does not accept applications from recruitment agencies.
