The Old Forge Garage has just undergone a complete workshop upgrade, and we’re excited to welcome an experienced MOT Tester and Mechanic to our newly transformed facility. As a small, independent garage with the same owner for the last 26 years, we pride ourselves on offering something increasingly rare in the automotive industry – genuine work-life balance with no weekend working.
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a skilled professional who wants to be more than just another pair of hands. This role offers real autonomy and the opportunity to take responsibility for workshop operations, making it ideal for someone ready to step up and make their mark.
Start Date: January 2026
What You’ll Be Doing
Conducting MOT tests to DVSA standards
Carrying out vehicle repairs and maintenance across all vehicle types
Managing invoicing and parts orders
Providing excellent customer service to our valued clients
Taking ownership of day-to-day workshop operations
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
MOT testing experience - Proven mechanical experience across all vehicle types
Valid MOT Tester qualification
Strong numeracy skills
Excellent communication abilities – you’ll be the face of our business
You will need to have your own tools.
Personal Qualities:
Personable and approachable with customers
Creative problem-solver who thinks outside the box
Honest and trustworthy – integrity is everything to us Self-motivated and able to work independently
