The Personal Development Manager will oversee and facilitate the successful implementation of our STEPS programme, the College's Personal Development curriculum. The STEPS framework is designed to ensure all learners and apprentices develop the right skills, knowledge and have a wider range of experiences to thrive now and in their future.

This is a full time role, working 37 hours per week, on a maternity cover basis.

Interviews for this role will take place on-site, at one of our college campuses in Weston-super-Mare.

Day to day duties of the role

  • Line manage Personal Development tutors and their delivery of the STEPS programme, arranging regular one-to-one meetings and team meetings to share best practices and key updates.

  • Develop engaging learning focusing on topical points such as British Values, Safeguarding & Prevent, Respect Relationships & Sex, Drugs & Alcohol, Digital Technologies, Sustainability, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Work closely with the Director of Student Experience and Personal Development to demonstrate the impact of the role across all responsibilities.

  • Coordinate the delivery of key personal development themes, celebrations, and awareness days across the college, involving marketing, event organisation, and collaboration with external stakeholders.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Teaching or training qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training).

  • Experience of working with young people and or adults within an education setting.

  • Strong understanding of personal development frameworks, including British Values, Safeguarding & Prevent, Relationships and Sex Education, Substance Awareness, Digital Safety, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.
  • Experience of developing and delivering engaging educational resources or programmes in line with curriculum goals.
