Are you an enthusiastic and motivated doctor looking to develop your skills in Acute Medicine? We are looking for Trust Resident Doctors to join our dynamic and supportive team within the Acute Admissions Unit (AAU) and Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU) at Watford General Hospital.
Working alongside a team of eight Acute Medicine Consultants, you’ll gain exposure to a diverse range of acute medical presentations, participate in same-day emergency care, and contribute to high-quality patient care and service improvement.
This is an excellent opportunity for doctors seeking to expand their clinical experience before applying for higher specialty training. The department operates Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00, with participation in a rota as required.
You will provide Resident Doctor -level medical cover across AAU and EAU/ACU, ensuring continuity of care and timely review of acutely unwell patients. The post holder will lead the daily management of patients under consultant supervision, carry out key procedures, and support junior doctors and nursing teams.
You will also be encouraged to participate in teaching, clinical governance, audit, and service development. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise and have completed Core Medical Training (or equivalent). MRCP is desirable.
