About the Role
Landmarc Support Services have an exciting opportunity for a Training Area Operative to play a key role in the deployment and operation of radar equipment across UK Training Estates, with occasional assignments overseas. This hands-on position is essential to maintaining operational readiness and ensuring the safe, secure, and effective use of Training Facilities.
What to Expect:
- Standard hours: Mon–Thurs 07:50–17:00, Fri 07:50–16:00
- Occasional shifts between 07:00–23:00 to support flying operations
- Typically 70% of work at Spadeadam, 30% across the UK
- Overseas deployments available on a rotational basis.

Main Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain radar systems across UK sites
- Conduct site assessments and perform preventative maintenance tasks
- Drive fleet vehicles and oversee secure access to operational locations
- Identify and report defects in equipment, ranges, and buildings
- Respond appropriately to incidents involving unauthorised access
- Liaise effectively with stakeholders and ensure accurate completion of documentation
- Assist with audit procedures and manage equipment inventories
- Perform Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and other equipment checks
- Monitor building conditions and report maintenance requirements promptly
Knowledge & Skills we are looking for:
- Understanding of COSHH, Manual Handling, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to Accurately report and complete documentation
- Familiarity with Range Standing Orders
- Strong IT proficiency
- Full valid UK driving licence is essential due to travel requirements
Skills That Would Strengthen Your Application
While not essential, the following qualifications and experience would be advantageous:
- ONC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Health & Safety training
- Experience with overhead cranes or access platforms
- LGV and/or trailer licence
- PAT Testing certification
