Job Description:
Gentoo are delighted to be investing and expanding our Property Maintenance team with a new opportunity for a qualified and experienced Plumber, to carry out the day-to-day maintenance on all plumbing installations in Gentoo’s housing stock across the city of Sunderland.
Our customers are at the heart of Gentoo; therefore, providing excellent customer service is an essential part of this role. We are looking for a qualified Plumber with knowledge and understanding of relevant Health & Safety Regulations, Codes of practice and Guidance, and experience in plumbing procedures in a domestic environment. We are looking for an individual who can communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and wider teams, ensuring Gentoo deliver excellent customer service to every customer.
Enjoy reduced working hours during the summer with early finishes at 1 pm and 3 pm. In the winter, our Plumbers work until 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturday morning work is required, with the following Friday off in return.
Training and development opportunities are available to all Plumbers, including products and the potential for training in renewable energy, ground source heat pumps and qualification renewal to support you in building on your knowledge and skills to enhance work performance and achieve professional growth.
The role is subject to a basic DBS paid for by Gentoo.
A full UK driver’s licence is required.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ensure the Group is compliant in Gas and day-to-day Plumbing repairs, including Heating installs and Water Safety.
Carry out responsive repairs to Gentoo properties, including installation and maintenance of sanitary ware, plumbing/heating systems, soil and rainwater goods.
Installation of gas boilers, heating systems, associated pipework and components.
Testing, commissioning and decommissioning of all the above components and services.
Complete minor builders' work and elements of multi-skilling associated with the job.
Complete all necessary paperwork as required by the current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Gentoo and Regulatory bodies.
Liaise with line Managers regarding the status of all work and liaise and interface with other trades as required.
Maintain the impressed stock levels on the vehicle and carry out all works efficiently and on time.
Driving as required.
What we are looking for:
A full UK driver's license
City & Guild Advanced Craft certificate in Plumbing OR NVQ level 2 in Plumbing
You must have a current gas competency qualification (ACS accreditation) CCN 1, CENWAT, CKR1 AND HRT1.
Demonstrable experience of Gas policies and procedures, as well as knowledge of a variety of gas appliances, is essential.
Demonstrable experience in plumbing & heating, including the installation and maintenance of boilers, fires, hot and cold-water systems, sanitary ware, soil & waste systems and rainwater goods and associated pipework.
Demonstrable experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of gas boilers, plumbing/heating systems and components.
Fully conversant and competent to carry out works per the current Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Gentoo’s requirements, and Regulatory bodies.
A flexible approach to meet the demands of the role.
Competence in the use of handheld IT systems.
A logical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving.
Demonstrable ability to carry out multi-skilling work deemed necessary for the role
