Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Barking
Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start
Up to £110 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with an inclusive and well-supported secondary school in Barking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to work with students across Key Stage 3, with a particular focus on those with ASD and ADHD.
The school has a strong SEN department and is committed to providing tailored support to students with additional needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and confident working with students who require structure, flexibility, and emotional regulation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD across KS3
- Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver targeted academic and behavioural support
- Assist with engagement in lessons, emotional regulation, and classroom routines
- Collaborate with SENCo, class teachers and pastoral staff to implement support plans
- Encourage independence and help students develop positive coping strategies
- Provide consistent behaviour support using de-escalation and positive reinforcement
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience supporting students with ASD and/or ADHD in a school or youth setting
- A calm, consistent and structured approach to learning support
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with young learners
- Basic understanding of EHCPs, behaviour plans and SEN strategies
- Confidence in adapting tasks and routines for different learning needs
Location and Transport - Barking, East London
- Accessible via Barking and Upney stations (District Line, C2C)
- Local bus routes include: 5, EL1, 62, 169, 287
- On-site parking available
