Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.
A little about myself:
I’m a middle-aged lady and an ambulatory powered-wheelchair-user living in Loughor. My condition is variable, so some days I need help even to dry my hair and will need to mainly rest in bed, whilst others I can drive us to the local shops and just need help with the physical side of shopping.
Due to staff sickness, I mainly need cover currently for 6–8 hours per week, but anything is helpful.
My speech and concentration can be affected. I need someone who has good timekeeping and can see what needs doing without constantly needing guidance.
Male / female preferred.
Hours of work
6–8 hours per week (Daytime mainly)
Rate of pay
£13.13
Essential
I need you to:
• Have a valid DBS.
Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• You have basic BSL, but I can teach you.
I’d like support with:
• Cooking meals;
• Doing laundry;
• Some cleaning;
• Taking me to hospital appointments in Neath (mileage provided at 45p per mile).
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
Be confident, mature and have patience;
Be dependable and arrive on time;
Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
Be adaptable and flexible;
Be supportive but not take over;
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
