About the Role
Cardiff Council is seeking four Control Centre Operators to join the Telecare service within the Adults, Housing & Communities Directorate.
As part of a 24/7 service, you will be responsible for:
Receiving and responding to emergency and priority calls from vulnerable or elderly customers
Making outbound and receiving inbound welfare calls
Providing clear, accurate advice and support across council services
Liaising with care agencies, emergency services, and other council departments
Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and call resolution
This is a vital role supporting some of Cardiff’s most vulnerable residents, requiring empathy, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
✅ What We’re Looking For
Educated to GCSE standard (including Maths and English)
Strong communication skills – able to listen patiently and respond clearly
Confidence in using IT systems and technology
Ability to work under pressure and manage sensitive situations effectively
Team player with a caring attitude and commitment to customer service
Desirable:
Ability to speak Welsh or community languages
Experience delivering customer-focused information
Special Requirements
Standard DBS check required
Ability to work unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (rota-based)
Eligible for shift allowance and weekend/night enhancements
