Neway International are seeking an Interim Senior Accountant – Capital & Projects (Grade 7) to joinn our client based with Somerset Council.
This role is starting on the 1st of December, working Monday to Friday full time, initially for a 6 month contract.
Somerset Council is seeking an Interim Senior Accountant – Capital & Projects to support the Finance Strategic team during a busy period. This role will focus on financial planning, reporting, and oversight of capital projects, ensuring compliance and effective delivery across the council’s portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on capital accounting and project finance management
Provide strategic financial planning and reporting support
Ensure compliance with council policies, financial regulations, and statutory requirements
Work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely financial information
Support the Finance & Procurement group in managing workload peaks
✅ What We’re Looking For
Strong background in capital accounting and project finance
Proven experience in financial planning and reporting within local government or similar environments
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently and deliver results under pressure
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) desirable
