Job Description - Cleaning Operative
Job Overview
The cleaning department is a vital part of a hospital's daily operations. It is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff.
This position supports the cleaning services with professional & experienced staff to ensure the cleaning standards are maintained to the NHS Cleaning Standards, Cleaning audits scores are maintained, and SLA's standards are met and delivered on time to the Trust
Main Duties
-Work in a safe, courteous and confidential manner whilst following Mitie & Trust Policy and associated Standard Operating Procedures relating to the task being carried out.
-Be in designated place of work from agreed shift start time to agreed shift end time. To maintain a level of portering service throughout the Trust and or your designated work area by following a planned schedule of work as well as making flexible alterations when required.
-Following a cleaning schedule as planned for the area you are working in
-Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms, wards, offices, restrooms and public areas, adhering to hospital cleaning protocols, and ensuring waste is disposed of safely and correctly.
-Cleaning standards and frequencies are maintained at all time
-Performing cleaning tasks around patients that may have an infectious disease and to follow all Infection Control guidelines when completing these tasks.
-Adhering strictly to all safety and hygiene guidelines, including using appropriate PPE if required when completing cleaning tasks.
-Reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns to your supervisor or Management
-Operate cleaning machinery as required
-To ensure compliance with Health & Safety, ISO9002, Infection Control and COSHH regulations while undertaking duties consummate with the post
-To participate in any training or meetings required to undertake the duties of this post.
-To maintain accurate records as required by best practice, company procedures and current legislation
-To Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene in line with Mitie's Hygiene Uniform Policy.
-Adhere to Mitie's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy and bullying and Harassment procedures.
-Demonstrate a clear and effective alignment with the operational objectives and the commercial interests of Mitie
General Skills
-Previous experience as a cleaner, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting
-Knowledge of cleaning procedures and practices.
-Attention to detail to be able to effectively clean all areas including the hard-to-reach ones.
-Good interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and empathise
-Physical fitness
-Good communication skills
-Can work as part of a team or under your own initiative
