JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant
About me
I’m a 40-year-old autistic person living in the Cathays area of Cardiff.
I experience anxiety and depression, and I’m looking for someone who can support me in day-to-day life with a mix of practical help and social encouragement. I have a dry, dark sense of humour and can be an acquired taste – it may take a little time to get to know me (and me know you).
My interests include:
Arts and crafts
Film and TV
Lego building
Theatre and live performance
About you
You should be a good communicator who’s proactive, encouraging, and flexible. You should understand the importance of patience and adaptability, and should be comfortable supporting someone who may need time to build trust. Ideally you should own your own car and be happy to help with transport to essential things such as shopping and appointments.
Place of work
At home and out in the community and taking to events as when needed.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours per week.
£14.65 per hour.
Key responsibilities
Help with decluttering, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy home
Support with meal planning
Provide lifts to the supermarket and assist with food shopping
Help arranging and transport to appointments
Help accessing social activities and events
Help accessing cinema, theatre, galleries, museums, and gigs
Essential requirements
Push and motivate me to achieve my goals and aspirations
Be dynamic and flexible, capable of handling diverse situations
Show empathy while maintaining a positive attitude and good sense of humour
Provide motivation and be trustworthy
Enjoy contributing to my personal growth and development
Demonstrate confidence and social skills
Possess basic technology skills with laptops and phones
Have a car and be able to drive (Essential)
Appreciate music (Preferred but not essential).
Desirable
Interest in arts, crafts, or creative hobbies
Experience in mental health or autism support (formal or informal)
ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
Please Note: Dewis Centre for Independent Living is acting on behalf of a third party and will not be your employer or be liable for any issues arising out of your employment should you be offered employment.
Thank you.
