Located on the outskirts of the rural market town of Newent; about 10 miles north-west of Gloucester city, and with magnificent 38-acre site and impressive sports facilities, Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre are seeking to appoint a Family Support worker with a proven track record. Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre is an 11-18 comprehensive academy with c. 1050 students currently on roll. The successful candidate will support and assist the Senior Leadership Team to provide an efficient service, monitoring and supporting all aspects of students’ attendance. The position is also responsible for maintaining up-to-date and accurate computerised records, relating to attendance, and students’ files, in line with office procedures.
We need a self-motivated, creative team player who can add an extra dimension to our thinking.   Please note that this role involves frequent travel to student homes on a daily and weekly basis. Candidates must hold a full driving license, all mileage costs will be reimbursed.
Newent Community School and Sixth Form Centre has a strong team spirit and a passion for creating an inclusive learning environment, which enables the holistic development of all students. We promote exemplary relationships at all levels and strive for outstanding outcomes. All staff and students are valued highly. We are committed to developing individuals and working with them to reach their full potential. Emphasis on staff wellbeing is an integral part of our culture, and we provide an outstanding working environment.  We continue to be a good school, as confirmed by Ofsted following their visit in March 2024, offering a high quality of education with recent observations recognising that our students are making strong progress in the majority of subjects.  In addition, it was rightly observed that our students feel safe, and are safe, in school. This is achieved by the school’s culture of care and vigilance. All staff are firmly committed to ensuring that every student achieves their full potential.    The successful candidate will be required to liaise with students, parents / carers, staff, Local Authority and, therefore, the ability to communicate at all levels is essential.  You are more than welcome to contact the school to arrange an informal visit if you would like an opportunity to see the facilities for yourself at the school. I hope that having read the details from the school, and hopefully also seen the work we do here for yourself, you decide to apply for this post. If that is the case, I would like to thank you in advance for the time required for such an application and look forward to reading your letter in due course.   Applications should be indicated by letter, detailing your experience to date and outlining your skills against the Job Description.  There is a requirement to submit a fully completed application form with your letter.    The role's closing date is Midday, Thursday 27th November 2025, with interviews expected to take place in the following week. However, please note that where the school receives an exceptional response, shortlisting and interviews may be arranged prior to the closing date by mutual agreement.  If you wish to discuss this position, prior to submitting an application, please contact Mrs. N Dagada-Khan, in the first instance.
