Summary
Responsibilities of the role include:
Building trusted relationships with colleagues across the department’s rail groups, local stakeholders, including Mayoral Combined Authorities and key delivery partners such as HS2 Ltd and Network Rail. You will manage a small and friendly team of five people currently across London and Birmingham to:
Lead on future strategic planning with a strong focus on driving economic growth and opportunities to collaborate with local partners and the private sector.
Design and deliver an ambitious active travel legacy for HS2 Phase 1 - ensuring infrastructure is future-proofed to provide new greenways for walking and cycling between London and Birmingham.
Work with HS2 Ltd to deliver a targeted programme of remediation on land currently held by the Government between Birmingham and Crewe for the former HS2 Phase 2a scheme - ensuring this programme delivers to budget and schedule.
Foster an inclusive, supportive, and dynamic team culture whilst building the capabilities required to deliver the policy vision of this government.
Be responsible for setting your own team strategy and delivery plan, with appropriate performance milestones and metrics, excellent line management, and monitoring and evaluation.
Be an active member of the senior leadership team at both Group and Directorate level, and an advocate for change in line with Productive and Agile State reforms.
Have full accountability for all baseline SCS mandatory requirements, such as mandatory training, office attendance, correspondence/ Parliamentary Questions / Freedom of Information requests, wider corporate contributions, diversity and inclusion.
