Assistant Head of Curriculum - Health and Science

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Vacancy

Newcastle College is seeking an experienced and motivated education professional to join our Health and Science team as Assistant Head of Curriculum.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to play a key role in shaping and leading high-quality curriculum delivery across a diverse portfolio of Health, Science, and Social Care programmes. The successful candidate will support the Head of Curriculum in delivering the College's strategic vision through the operational leadership of curriculum planning, quality improvement, and staff development.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience in curriculum management, knowledge of T-Levels, and a passion for curriculum innovation and development.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day operations across a range of programmes, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Implement quality improvement processes that drive progress against College KPIs.
  • Support curriculum planning and resource management to ensure efficient, impactful delivery.
  • Contribute to business planning and staff development aligned to departmental and College priorities.
  • Promote recruitment and progression across our curriculum, working collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and external partners to secure outstanding learner outcomes.

You'll be an inspiring and inclusive leader who can motivate teams, develop people, and translate strategy into action. Your strong understanding of FE quality standards, together with your ability to manage performance and innovate in curriculum design, will be key to success.

Applicants should hold a relevant degree (or equivalent professional qualification), a recognised teaching qualification, and have proven experience of managing curriculum delivery and quality assurance within a further education or training setting.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking department at the heart of health and science education in the North East. You will work within a supportive and ambitious leadership team committed to developing programmes that equip learners with the technical skills, confidence, and experience to thrive in modern healthcare, science, and social care sectors.
