About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Altcourse. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning environment for staff and residents alike.
In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the prison site and its facilities remain in excellent working order.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake general maintenance, repairs, and minor installation work across the site.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with schedules.
- Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests or emergencies.
- Ensure all work meets relevant health, safety, and security standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and prison staff to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in general maintenance, building services, or a trade (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or mechanical).
- Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Security clearance (or ability to obtain it).
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Proactive, systematic approach to tasks.
- Maximo CAFM experience desirable
- Ability to work to correct time schedules and deadlines.
- Team Player
