The Healthcare assistant role sits within the Community COPD team and will support the Matrons, Associate Matrons and Physiotherapists to assess and manage COPD patients as part of their ongoing care. They will also support the team Administrators in their role providing telephone response, urgent communication and diary management.

Job share with the band 3 healthcare assistant in post 2 days per week with administrative tasks and patient facing roles. Roles include measuring observations and managing a small caseload of patients, alongside supporting the physiotherapy team during the pulmonary rehabilitation sessions.

• To complete physical health observations, such as oxygen saturations weight and blood pressure
• To complete home risk assessment for prospective oxygen patients
• Picking up of microscopy samples and dropping to collection point
• Using RIO (electronic system) to record and retrieve information on service users
• Undertaking word processing for the provision of required reports, letters, summaries, etc. within the set standards
• Respond to incoming calls and deal with enquiries in accordance with management procedures.
• Undertake administrative duties to support clinicians.
• Undertaking an assistant role in Pulmonary Rehabilitation classes to support clinicians.
• Booking of appointments and maintaining clinicians’ Rio diaries
• Maintaining a database of team equipment and liaising with contractor for servicing
