Crynodeb
In response to this need the government is set to pass legislation which reforms public procurement with a goal to speed up and simplify our procurement processes, place value for money at their heart, and maximize opportunities for small businesses, charities and social enterprises to innovate in public service delivery.
The award-winning Commercial Capability Team, as part of the Cabinet Office and working into the Government’s Chief Commercial Officer, was formed in 2014 to support departments in improving commercial capability.
During this time the team have developed a suite of capability services, which central departments, wider government bodies and beyond can access. These services include:
- Access to a pool of centrally-employed and accredited Commercial Specialists that can be assigned to departments to work on commercial assignments.
- A Commercial recruitment hub offering a centralised recruitment service for departments to fill vacancies in commercial structures
- Access to commercial career coaches and talent management
- Advice and guidance on organisational structure and best-practice / organisational blueprints
- Commercial and Contract Management
The Government Commercial Function Faculty provides in lifecycle commercial learning and development across central government and the wider public sector, with a focus on raising the commercial and contract management capability of individuals who procure goods and services and manage the resulting contracts in life to deliver value for money to the UK citizen.
As a Community Lead you will report into the Head of Communities of Practice and take a lead role in the development of communities of practice of new and existing learning and development programmes. This will involve stakeholder management, organisation of community meetups and delivery of experiential learning sessions. You will have a collaborative approach, working alongside Commercial Policy leads, the Strategic Engagement team and the Subject Matter Experts who will support throughout the whole life of the projects.
As a highly visible programme all content will be heavily scrutinised so an exacting eye for detail and an ability to translate complex information into an appropriate format is essential.
The post holder will be delivering a best practice approach in a hybrid environment (virtual or face to face)
Successful candidates must be able to evidence a strong understanding of stakeholder management and commercial landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the planning and preparation for the implementation of new communities of practice work supporting the strategy, design, delivery and execution of the different learning and development projects and programmes within the wider team
- Independent responsibility to engage and develop key identified stakeholder groups across the Wider Public Sector, Central Government or Suppliers, supporting and enhancing their capability.
- Ownership of the community portal including development, design and maintenance
- Continuously grow, support and nurture key procurement stakeholder relationships through specific designed and developed 121, team or group workshops or programmes
- Organisation of community meetup including but not limited to slide decks, eventbrite, slido interactions, presentations, feedback, surveys, KPI’s etc.
- To continuously support the growing communities through consistent and continuous communication with contracting authorities in order to understand user needs.
- To develop close and collaborative internal relationships with colleagues in the Commercial Policy and Learning and Development teams.
- To work with Subject Matter Experts to create community collateral across programmes.
- Provide feedback, advice and input into the different projects/programmes.
- Maintaining up to date sector knowledge through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), demonstrating commercial awareness and applying knowledge, experience and skills effectively.
