This long‑term role offers the opportunity to bring your subject expertise to a setting where innovation, care and individual development matter.

The Role
You will teach science to small groups of pupils with autism, tailoring content to meet varied learning profiles and using creative, engaging approaches. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering science lessons that are firmly adapted for learners on the autism spectrum, making use of visual supports, hands‑on activities and accessible language.
- Managing groups of approximately 5‑10 pupils, ensuring that each learner receives the differentiated support they need.
- Working in partnership with the school's SEN team, HLTA/TA staff and senior leadership to shape and adapt the curriculum and resources.
- Monitoring progress, evaluating engagement, and adjusting teaching strategies to maximise each pupil's success and confidence.
- Contributing to a calm, inclusive and motivating learning environment where autistic pupils can thrive and explore their interest in science.

The Ideal Person and Skills/Education Needed
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Has QTS or equivalent teaching qualification and experience teaching science (secondary or KS3/KS4) in a way that can be adapted for smaller groups and diverse learning needs.
- Has experience or strong interest in working with autistic learners-able to use structured, visual and sensory‑aware strategies and to foster positive communication and independence.
- Is creative, flexible and confident in designing engaging, practical science experiences (experiments, investigations, interactive tasks).
- Has excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and can work closely with support staff and specialist teams.

The School
This is a specialist provision for pupils on the autism spectrum, offering a nurturing environment and small group classes so that each pupil receives personalised attention and support. The setting values every learner's voice and seeks to develop strong scientific curiosity, independent thinking and lifelong learning skills.
