MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and management

-Provide effective leadership for Susan’s Farm sustaining an organisational culture built around the aims and values of Susan’s Farm.
-With support from Trustees direct Susan’s Farm through a period of transformation and development whilst maintaining its excellent services and look forward to identifying opportunities to extend services and raise additional income to support this growth.
-Work effectively with the Board of Trustees to roll out Susan’s Farm’s strategic plans and to guide the organisation towards the achievement of its vision and objectives.
-Ensure the Board of Trustees receives appropriate advice and information on all relevant matters to enable it to fulfil its governance responsibilities, including the preparation of appropriate Board papers.
-Ensure a healthy financial position for Susan’s Farm including overseeing the bookkeeping, reviewing income and co-authorising expenditure, preparing forward budgets and securing adequate grant and other income sources.
-Ensure that rigorous systems are in place for financial management and control and that accurate financial information is available to the Board and support the Board to effectively identify, manage and mitigate organisational risks.
-Oversee effective Trustee recruitment and induction processes.
-With the Patron and Trustees an external face of Susan’s Farm and an effective and passionate ambassador and advocate for the organisation’s vision and objectives, this will include representing the organisation and its vision and values on public platforms, within the media and as part of pre-arranged communications and campaigns.
-Develop and sustain strong relationships with the key decision-makers including schools and opinion formers across the varied sectors both locally and nationally.
-Ensure that the farming provision is rigorously managed ensuring the well being of all livestock, land management and compliance with organic principles, including the production and sales of meat. [The post holder will liaise directly with the Chair of the Farming Sub-Committee and provide regular assurances to the Trustees in line with standard governance procedures.]
-Ensure that the organisation discharges its legal and constitutional requirements and obligations and ensure that all work is undertaken with full adherence to Susan’s Farm policies and procedures.
-Act as safeguarding lead for the organisation and ensure that safeguarding underpins all the organisations work.

Staffing

-Inspire and support all staff and volunteers to fulfil their role within the organisation and build commitment to shared core values.
-Inspire and develop the staff team and volunteers to support the achievement of the delivery of the organisation’s objectives, ensuring that a culture of outcome improvement and commitment to high quality service delivery is sustained and developed throughout Susan’s Farm.
-Ensure the organisation’s values and internal policies are appropriate, relevant, fairly, and consistently applied and that all staff and volunteers are supported through effective performance management.
-Line manage the staff and contractors of Susan’s Farm either directly or through lead staff and have overall responsibility for the organisation’s service delivery.
-Have strategic oversight over the business development strategy including income raised from traded services, fundraising, grants, and commissioned services.
-Identify and maximise opportunities for Susan’s Farm to improve and build on its service delivery.
-Maintain staff resources at a level appropriate to financial resources and organisational objectives.
-Ensure all staff are managed and developed within the performance management system.

Information governance

-Take overall responsibility for monitoring the performance of the organisation using the outcome and performance framework and reporting this to the Board of Trustees.
-Apply for and negotiate suitable fundings and contracts ensuring Susan’s Farm delivers its contractual funding obligations, supplying information and data as required.
-Ensure that the confidentiality of any information relating to staff, service users and Susan’s Farm business in accordance with Information Governance policies.
