Job Description
This is a part-time post the salary will be pro-rata'd to the hour worked.
The post is fixed term until 20/12/2026.
An opportunity has risen for a Domestic Assistant (Maternity Cover) within the house setting of Blairvadach Children’s House which is set close to the village of Rhu, Helensburgh.
Blairvadach is a bungalow which provides a homely environment for six looked after children with a variety of age ranges.
The ideal candidate will be an important and valuable part of our team who contributes to the homely and clean feel of our home. This is central to the benefit of the young people.
You should have a flexible and adaptive approach and work to a high standard of cleanliness to ensure a healthy and safe environment for children and staff members, while adhering to the various policies and procedures of the local authority.
We do our best to provide consistent care for children and young people who cannot live at home and because of the nature of work confidentiality and sensitivity will also be required to ensure the well-being of all young people within our very busy house.
KEY ACTIVITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and OUTCOMES
- To clean the house as directed by the house management team.
- To clean all areas of the house, including washing and changing bedding. This requires sensitivity and respect for young people’s spaces and privacy.
- To keep records and restock cleaning materials.
- To have an understanding of Health & Safety requirements
- To undertake training if required.
- To contribute to making a homely and welcoming setting.
- To build relationships with children and young people and other team members.
- Must work to a high standard and have an understanding of aims and objectives of care for young people.
- Should show initiative and have a flexible approach and work well as part of a team.
Requirements
This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
