Crynodeb
This apprenticeship is ideal for someone wishing to complete a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom qualification and gain hands-on experience in a professional equine physiotherapy environment.
The apprentice will be involved in general yard duties, horse care, and physiotherapy support, working closely with Gemma and the Equibetter team to provide outstanding welfare and care for all horses on site.
Duties will include;
Carry out daily yard duties, ensuring horses are cared for to the highest standards
Distribute feed, collect and clean feed bowls and adjust feed according to each horse's need
Turn horses out, muck out stables, prepare and hand haynets
Using yard equipment such as yard blower to keep are tidy and safe
Assist Gemma during physiotherapy sessions, including trotting up, holding horses and observing treatments
Gain experience in basic physiotherapy support and horse handling
Help exercise horses, including lunging, in-hand work and turnout management
Support exercises and rehabilitation programmes, including in stable exercises, pole work and setting out pole
Assist with hay and straw collection, including lifting and stacking bales
Provide good communications and teamwork with other staff
Use IT systems such as Google Calendar to manage schedules
Working Week -
Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend cover required.
Training
All training will be provided on site during your paid working hours. Your day to day mentoring will be with your employer, and a combination of online and in person monthly sessions will be held with your Haddon Training Trainer Coach.
Qualifications required
GCSE Level 4/ Grade C in Maths and English or equivalent.
Skills required
Some previous experience working with horses.
A team player able to communicate well with others
Excellent time management
Use of initiative
