Are you a kind, energetic, and empathetic person who believes in the power of sport to change lives?
Do you enjoy helping young people grow in confidence, resilience, and self-belief?
Quokka Education is proud to be working with a specialist SEN sports provision in Southampton, designed to support young people aged 11-16 who find traditional school settings difficult. This is a calm, nurturing environment where connection, movement, and encouragement are at the heart of every day.
The provision is seeking full-time Sport Inclusion Support staff to join their dedicated, caring team from January 2026. This is a truly rewarding opportunity for anyone who wants to make a positive impact on young lives through sport, wellbeing, and relationship-based mentoring.
As a Sport Inclusion Support Mentor, you'll play an important part in helping students develop confidence, communication skills, and independence through structured activities and supportive guidance.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students aged 11-16 in 1:1 and small-group sessions focused on sport, outdoor activities, and wellbeing.
- Encouraging participation in a range of physical activities, including football, cricket, paddle, squash, archery, and outdoor walks.
- Helping students to build emotional resilience, confidence, and social skills through positive interactions.
- Beginning each day with a calm morning debrief, setting a positive tone for learning and engagement.
- Encouraging independence and decision-making - from preparing breakfast to choosing meaningful daily activities.
- Working closely with teachers and mentors to ensure every child feels safe, supported, and valued.
Every day is different in this role. You'll have the chance to inspire, encourage, and celebrate small but significant steps forward with each young person you support.
This SEN sports provision is a genuinely special place to work - warm, inclusive, and deeply committed to helping both students and staff flourish. You can expect:
- A family-style team who care about each other and the young people they support.
- A peaceful, relationship-led environment focused on emotional wellbeing and re-engagement.
- A beautiful setting within a rugby and cricket club, with access to outstanding sports and outdoor facilities.
- Opportunities for outdoor and off-site experiences such as fishing, walking, and team-building activities.
- Ongoing mentoring, reflection, and professional development, including free Team Teach training.
- A school culture that truly values wellbeing, teamwork, and compassion.
We welcome applications from people with experience in:
- Sport, youth work, or mentoring, or those passionate about supporting young people.
- A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach to working with children who need extra support.
- The ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and bring positivity to every interaction.
- A genuine belief that small, caring actions can make a lasting difference.
Whether you've worked in a school, sports setting, or community programme - if you're patient, proactive, and passionate, this could be the perfect next step for you.
- Start Date: January 2nd, 2026
- Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm (with occasional early finish at 3:10pm)
- Pay: £90 per day
- Contract: 12-week temp-to-perm pathway
- Training: Free Team Teach certification and ongoing CPD
- Location: Southampton
