We are seeking an enthusiastic and positive individual to join our receptionist team within Children’s outpatients at University Hospital. As the first face many patients will see when they enter our hospital we are looking for candidates that are calm under pressure and can communicate well with patients and relatives, demonstrating our UHCW values and setting the standard for further patient experience.

This is a challenging but rewarding role and we will support starters with all the education and training required in the systems we use.

• To provide comprehensive and confidential administrative and clerical activities to meet the needs of the reception in accordance with departmental and Trust guidelines, policies or procedures.
• Being the first point of contact for all visitors, ensuring clinicians are aware of patient arrivals, allowing the service to run efficiently.

• Act as first point of contact for all visitors to the Children’s Outpatients Department
• Provide a high quality reception service to all users ensuring an efficient, professional and prompt reception and administration service is delivered at all times
• Manage paediatric appointments for patients and updating Trust management systems appropriately
• Manage all telephone calls according to departmental standards and respond appropriately to maintain effective communication channels.
• Deal with all enquiries from patients, staff and visitors in a courteous, efficient and tactful manner
• Liaise with other Departments as appropriate, ensuring issues are raised as needed.
• Ensure Reception area is clean & tidy, and uphold data protection standards.
• Ensuring additional requirements are arranged for appointments such as interpreters, or ambulance transport.
• Support in using the e-Referral system to book appointments in a timely manner
