Crynodeb
Are you the patient, encouraging voice that makes learning magic for a 5-year-old?
Do you want to be the foundation upon which Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils build their future?
Could you thrive in a classroom bursting with curiosity, creativity, and energy in a Birmingham primary school?
If you answered YES to these questions, then Randstad Education is looking for you! We are seeking dedicated, imaginative, and nurturing Primary School Teaching Assistants (TA) to join our wonderful partner schools across the Birmingham area.
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting the development of children aged 4-11 (EYFS to Key Stage 2). You will help nurture their early literacy and numeracy skills, encourage their social and emotional growth, and ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and safe learning environment. This is a chance to truly make a difference at the most foundational stage of a child's education.
Key Responsibilities
-
Support the Class Teacher in all daily activities, including preparing resources, setting up creative displays, and maintaining a stimulating classroom.
-
Facilitate Phonics, Literacy, and Numeracy interventions, working with small groups or on a one-to-one basis to boost understanding.
-
Assist in the pastoral care of pupils, offering emotional support, dealing with minor accidents, and supporting positive behaviour management.
-
Help children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to access the curriculum and implement strategies outlined in their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
-
Listen to children read individually, encouraging fluency and a love of books.
-
Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and accompany the class on educational trips and outdoor learning activities.
What We Look for in You
-
Experience working with Primary-aged children (4-11 years) in a formal or informal setting.
-
A genuine passion for early years and primary education and child development.
-
Creativity, energy, and a playful approach to engage young learners in their studies.
-
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills to effectively support teaching across core subjects.
-
Patience, warmth, and the ability to be a positive role model at all times.
-
Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are highly desirable.
-
A fully enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
