This non-technical role is part of a passionate multidisciplinary team of security, risk, and counter-fraud professionals, supporting one of the largest agile programmes in the world. The team’s aim is to help drive down fraud and error attributed to Working Age Services.
Your knowledge and experience will help prevent and design-out fraud and ensure that security and risk considerations are at the centre of design decisions. You will be working alongside the Working Age Service feature teams and with internal and external stakeholders, to iterate a service that is secure by design for claimants, agents, and the Department.

This is a critical role co-ordinating and delivering Digital Security/Fraud Risk management within the Working Age Services programme, with risk driving security and fraud decisions, enabling a clear and realistic understanding of Security/Fraud Risk information. The role forms a vital first line capability within the HMG three-line defence model. Your knowledge and experience will help prevent and design-out fraud and ensure that security is at the centre of design decisions.
The Associate Security/Fraud Risk Manager job holder will be expected to:
- Ensure information Security/Fraud Risks and vulnerabilities are identified, managed, and escalated through agreed routes.
- Supporting Secure Design colleagues in first line defence to analyse risks, enabling risk owners and risk managers to take responsibility for the management and maintenance of their Security/Fraud Risks.
- Support the identification, assessment and measurement of emerging Security/Fraud Risks based on current trends and issues across Working Age Services and the external environment.
- Work closely with feature teams and other stakeholders to contribute to the success of the Working Age Services programme.
- Contribute to the development or implementation of fraud and security strategic work under supervision, and provide input to Working Age Services, via engagement with management and stakeholders.
- Actively seek out and share experience to develop understanding and knowledge of own work and of team’s business area.
- Support the development of features ensuring solution meets business requirements and compliance to Counter Fraud Strategy.
- Research the impact on fraud and error when required in design development.
- Research business processes aligned to known fraud risks to counter fraud.
