The Senior Strategic Communications Manager is a key role in the DVSA’s External Communications Team as they are accountable for acting as a key communications advisor and partner for the agency’s 3 services and corporate activities.

Our Strategic Communications Team provides leadership by setting direction and making key decisions about what, when and how to communicate. They guide the implementation of communications activity (alongside other disciplines) to tell DVSA’s long-term narrative, as well as ensure measurable outcomes are achieved. The team as a whole is responsible for providing specialist communications advice and input to Corporate Senior Leaders across DVSA to identify, manage and mitigate risks through timely communications.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Accountability for developing communications strategies with defined objectivesTranslating policy and operational decisions into effective communications activitiesUsing the OASIS framework to ensure communications are effective, efficient and evaluatedActing as a ‘trusted advisor’ to constructively advise, influence and challenge CSLsSeeking ways to overcome barriers by influencing decisions on timings and messagingKeeping the wider landscape under regular review to identify impacts on communicationsMaintaining positive relationships with DfT and other ALB communications teamsGreat line management is important to us as an organisation, and we will equip and support line managers to develop the skills they need. We aim to empower line managers to create teams where people can flourish and deliver excellent outcomes for the public.
