DBT Finance teams are at the centre of our mission to support economic growth throughout the UK, and I am looking for a Deputy Director of Finance Business Partnering to lead one of our two business partner teams to deliver on that ambitious agenda.
I am looking for a candidate who is excited by the opportunity to play a full and active role in the leadership of the Directorate. I need an experienced finance professional, who can give sound advice on some of the most complex policy issues we face, protecting value for money and helping maximise our Spending Review settlement. I need you to both challenge and enable wider DBT colleagues, becoming a trusted advisor to the most senior leaders in the organisation.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading the next stage of our directorate change journey, working with Deputy Director colleagues to evolve the Finance team to ensure it is in the best shape for the future. We have a small, close-knit leadership team and we support each other, so you must be someone who collaborates brilliantly with colleagues and energise your teams to do the same. Above all, I am looking for a candidate who cares about our people and can inspire them to fulfil their potential.
If you are excited by the sound of this opportunity and want to help me lead the team during this critical period, I’d love to hear from you.
This Deputy Director role will oversee high-profile policy portfolios, lead a large team of Finance Business Partners and contribute to the objectives of the wider finance directorate. You will:
- Build credibility and influence with senior stakeholders while developing a good understanding of the strategic priorities of DBT business areas and their partner organisations
- Provide expert financial advice that increases the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of DBT's policies and programmes, influencing decision making and protecting our Accounting Officer
- Champion the importance of value for money and strong financial management, ensuring robust stewardship of, and accounting for, public money, underpinned by effective planning, risk management and internal controls
- Lead and motivate a diverse and dispersed team of finance professionals, ensuring they are supported to thrive in their roles and develop their careers at DBT.
- Alongside SLT members, lead the Finance Directorate and wider department through a period of transformation, evolving our service offer in line with the Future DBT agenda.
- Provide strategic leadership during organisational change, ensuring continuity of service and alignment with departmental priorities, while fostering a collaborative and resilient culture
