Job Summary
To provide competent technical guidance & solutions as part of the network operations team, by undertaking inspections, monitoring, investigating stakeholders and contractors in respect to compliance with the New Roads & Street works Act 1991 & the Road Scotland Act 1984.
Arranging, recording and monitoring scheduled and ad hoc inspections. Participating in the national core testing, monitoring sites for compliance and traffic management. Consulting with contractors and ensuring that road space arrangements are met.
Assisting in the delivery of capital and revenue projects to manage and maintain the transport network in a safe and suitable condition. The post will be based within the Roads Network Operations Team based at the Broomhill depot in Kirkintilloch.
The Operations Team have responsibility for a variety of maintenance work including carriageway, footway, lighting, drainage, winter, inspections, etc. Work is also carried out for other sections within the Council including traffic signals, schools, waste infrastructure etc.
Technicians will be required to provide all technical and financial input into these responsibilities along with liaison and correspondence with the public, politicians, internal and external bodies. Assist with general enquiries, Freedom of information requests, asset management duty’s and the councils road asset management plan (RAMP) and Road Inspection & Maintenance policy.

PVG/Disclosure Scotland
The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.
Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.
Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.
In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.
Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.
The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
