Housing Officer - Permanent Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to undertake the post of Housing Officer within the Housing Services Team, with the skills and experience to deliver for our customers.

54North Homes owns and manages over 3,000 homes throughout Yorkshire. The housing association was formed in December 2022, through a merger between Leeds & Yorkshire Housing Association and York Housing Association and is a subsidiary of the Karbon Homes Group. In addition to investing in our existing properties, we have an ambitious development programme and will provide 250 new sustainable homes throughout Yorkshire in the next three years to help address the shortage of good-quality affordable housing in the region.

  • Housing Officer - permanent role
    • Salary is £35,995 per annum plus a Karbon car payment of £2317 per annum
      • Location: Based at our Leeds Office (Headingley, LS6)
        • Regular travel will be required
          • 37 Hours per week with some homeworking available/flexible working
            • Generous benefits package including 26 days annual leave on commencement rising to 31 days after 3 years' service, occupational pension, health cash plan, and birthday leave, with the option of a flexible pot towards enhanced benefits.

              The Role of the Housing Officer

              The Housing Officer will be an integral part of 54N's Housing Team providing intensive housing management services to a small patch of homes. In short, your role will be to make our customers happy by delivering an outstanding customer experience, acting as an ambassador for 54N. It's not just about providing our customers with a home or delivering basic services, this unique role provides an opportunity to be highly engaged, building relationships with customers and colleagues.

              You will be a single point of contact for colleagues and customers, responsible for oversight of all activity on your schemes and delivering services in line with management agreements. You will have direct responsibility for sustaining tenancies and working closely with maintenance and estates colleague to ensure achievement of KPIs and successful delivery of services to customers. In this role, you will have an opportunity to have a far wider impact than that, through your vibrant approach you will actively identify opportunities to make a real difference, enabling thriving communities. You won't be alone, you will be working closely with colleagues across the business to make sure that where our customers need support, that we help them and ensure we deliver an outstanding customer experience.

              Whilst you will be employed and work for 54N most of the homes you will be responsible for managing are owned by the Harrison & Potter Trust. The Harrison & Potter Trust is a charity which is both an Almshouse charity and a grant making charity. The organisation traces its origins to the John Harrison's hospital founded in April 1653 and Mary Potter's Hospital founded in April 1728. These charities were brought together by a new scheme in 1970 and now own and operate two Almshouse developments at Raglan Road and Lovell Park Road in Leeds. In addition, the charity supports various local projects and individuals in need. Building relationships and being accountable to Trustees will also be an important part of your role. Home (hapt.org.uk). You will also have responsibility for a small number of 54N owned homes, which are predominantly for older people.
