A lively welcoming primary school is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child who has SEMH This role is about building trust, offering consistency, and helping the pupil feel safe and ready to learn. You will be working at a KS2 level with guidance from the Teacher.
The Role
You will work closely with the class teacher to support both learning and wellbeing, using patience, empathy, and creativity to nurture confidence and resilience. The focus will be on emotional regulation, encouragement, and gentle guidance through daily routines.
The Ideal Person
Applicants should hold a relevant degree or a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification. Experience with trauma-informed approaches is highly beneficial. What matters most is your ability to connect with children, remain calm under pressure, and bring a caring, reliable presence.
Hours
8.30am-3.30pm, Monday to Friday. Open to full-time and part-time applicants.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available
