This job is workstyle 2A - Fixed
In this workstyle, you will have a guaranteed fixed desk, for example, for equality act (formerly DDA), H&S or technical reasons.
With an extensive history dating back to 1394, Arbroath Harbour is a focal point not only for the town of Arbroath but also for the county of Angus.
The harbour offers a diverse range of marine facilities and activities to oversee and manage, with a fleet of 25 commercial shellfish boats; 59 berth floating pontoon fingers which attract around 200 visiting yachts per year; and a patent slipway and leased commercial boatbuilders yard.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Harbour Master and lead a small team of Harbour Assistants responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of Arbroath Harbour.
You will work 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. You will be eligible to participate in the council flexitime scheme.
Key responsibilities include:
• Ensure the harbour byelaws and other marine management rules are adhered to by harbour users. • Ensure the operation and management of the harbour continues to comply with the Port Marine Safety Code. • Maintain and keep up to date the harbour’s Marine Safety Management System. • Maintain, keep up to date and renew, when necessary, the harbour’s Oil Spill Contingency Plan. • Issue monthly invoices for berthing, slipway and fuel charges as well as shellfish landing dues. • Ensure maintenance of the existing harbour infrastructure with regular and timely inspections. • Manage berthing requirements of the harbour users (commercial and leisure). • Ensure any marine licences required are applied for timeously. • Supervise dredging operations within the harbour. • Write and present quarterly reports to the Arbroath Harbour Joint Consultative Committee. • Work closely with stakeholders and elected members (local councillors). • Represent Arbroath Harbour at nationwide industry related group meetings.
