Detailed Duties:

To carry out the project management for the Provision of Emergency Response Capability for Exotic Pathogens project. To set annual deliverables for the project and to monitor and report progress during the year, including attendance at stakeholder meetings (3-4 annually).
To ensure deliverables are agreed with lead scientists and Defra and achieved according to deadlines.
To support and work with the Outbreak team lead to ensure adequate staff resourcing of outbreak response.
To review and update the emergency response plans with relevant leads, and ensure that teams are trained in:
IT tools and processes (Laboratory Information Management System, Management of Samples System)
laboratory procedures
competence for working in high-containment laboratories (retained through exercises).
To support cross government outbreak response preparedness initiatives.
To lead the maintenance of trained and competent Laboratory Liaison Officers (LLOs) to support Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) during outbreak
To assure that teams are trained and competent in delivery of their DERC test responsibilities, and there is sufficient succession in place.
To oversee critical equipment procurement and utilisation in context of APHA disease response, consumables contingencies.
To support cross departmental training in outbreak procedures to build workforce resilience and agility.
To attend and participate in DERC meetings.
To support DERC activities for cross organisational cooperation and preparedness.
To comply with the APHA Health and Safety Policy at all times.
To ensure that facilities are suitable for outbreak response, now and in the future through engagement with National Science Capability for Animal Health (NSCAH).
