Counselling and Mental Health Support



Salary Range: Grade 6, £32,080 to £37,694 pro rata per annum
Part time, 31 hours per week (0.86fte)


This post represents an exciting opportunity for an individual to join a team of staff in Keele University’s Counselling and Mental Health Support Service. The Service is responsible for providing psychotherapeutic interventions and mental health support to a diverse and complex student community.

The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting and helping to manage those experiencing emotional distress and mental illness. They will ideally have experience of working with young adults with complex needs and an ability to assess and support students who present with risk. A working knowledge of statutory and non-statutory mental health services and of educational settings would also be of benefit.

A key aspect of the role will be to offer appropriate support and guidance to academic and non-academic staff within Keele University, alongside effective liaison with other support structures such as disability teams, NHS Access Teams, Wellbeing Centres, GP surgeries and our Student Union.

Ideally some experience of health promotion in relation to community development, mental health and wellbeing. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will work alongside the wider team in developing our peer support initiative. Experience of working online will be advantageous.

The post holder will have a recognised qualification in mental health profession – nursing, OT or Mental Health Social Worker and will offer one to one or group support alongside a large and supportive team.
