Mitie proudly supports the UK Armed Forces as the Hard FM contractor for the MOD estate in the Falkland Islands. Our team of 150 professionals keeps essential services running across accommodation, airfields, and more.
We are looking for a skilled experienced Multiskilled Technician to join our Minor Works Team in the Falkland Islands. You'll assist engineers and carry out minor new works, planned maintenance, and reactive repairs on a wide range of mechanical plant and systems that support UK Armed Forces operations. This includes domestic water systems, ventilation, heating, steam, and compressed air systems. You'll also respond to emergency call-outs and occasionally work at remote MOD radar sites.
Your Role
-Carry out new works and planned/reactive maintenance on domestic plumbing, ventilation, heating, steam, and compressed air systems.
-Install pumps, valves, and pipework across various services and systems.
-Deliver a first-time quality product with no rework required.
-Qualify for entry in the Skilled Persons Register.
-Organise work efficiently to minimise downtime.
-Accurately record repair details and complete labour and overtime records promptly.
-Respond to emergency call-outs as part of the duty roster.
-Work occasionally at remote radar sites and other MOD locations.
-Perform any other duties as directed by your line manager or management team.
What You'll Bring
Education & Qualifications
-GCSE or equivalent.
-Completed an approved apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2 (minimum) in a relevant discipline.
Knowledge & Experience
-Strong mechanical background with familiarity in oil-burning plant.
-Working knowledge of compressors, compressed air systems, mechanical doors, lift ramps, kitchen equipment, and steam boilers.
-Ability to carry out new works from written specifications with minimal supervision.
-Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
-Experience working abroad and within MOD environments (desirable).
Skills & Abilities
-Full UK driving licence.
-Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
-Good communication skills.
-Flexible, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
-Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
