Role Overview
Southwark Council is seeking two experienced and proactive Environment Enforcement Officers to join the Community Warden & Enforcement Team. This role is critical to maintaining clean, safe, and compliant public spaces across the borough.

You’ll be responsible for tackling a range of environmental crime issues under the Environmental Protection Act (EPA), including fly-tipping, graffiti, illegal vehicle repairs/sales, and commercial waste offences. Your work will directly improve the borough’s appearance and promote community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct proactive and reactive patrols across Southwark

Investigate and enforce against enviro-crime offences such as:

Fly-tipping and fly-posting

Graffiti and illegal vehicle activity on public highways

Commercial waste carrying and presentation violations

Respond to service requests and taskings from management

Engage with residents and businesses to promote compliance

Maintain accurate records and contribute to enforcement actions

✅ Essential Requirements
Proven experience dealing with environmental crime under the EPA

Strong enforcement skills and confidence in public-facing roles

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and report-writing skills

Knowledge of Southwark’s local environment and community dynamics is a plus

You’ll be part of Southwark’s Community Safety Partnership Service, working within the Environment & Community Protection division. The team is committed to creating stronger neighbourhoods through visible enforcement and community engagement.
