Job Overview
Oscar’s Bistro is Sheffield’s newest sanctuary for flavour, style, and the occasional bout of organised chaos. We’re looking for a Chef – ideally someone with a soft spot for pastry, though any creative culinary soul with taste and talent is welcome. You’ll work alongside our Head Chef to help shape menus, plate up food that people actually remember, and keep standards high without losing your sense of humour.
Duties
Take pride in every plate, from brunch to desserts, ensuring each one looks and tastes like it belongs in the kind of place people brag about discovering.
Bring fresh, original ideas to the menu – seasonal, local where possible, and never dull.
Handle prep, cooking, and presentation with flair and precision (bonus points for plating that makes phones come out).
Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with all food safety requirements – ideally without needing to be reminded.
Manage your own section confidently, communicate clearly, and work smoothly with the team, even on the inevitable busy Saturdays.
Support menu innovation and occasionally save the day when the plan goes sideways – we appreciate quick thinkers.
Maintain the kind of standards that would make your old tutor, or at least your nan, proud.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Chef within a restaurant, café, or bistro environment.
A natural eye for presentation and a palate that knows the difference between good and extraordinary.
Strong technical ability and confidence across a variety of cooking techniques – pastry, grill, or whatever makes you shine.
A calm, self-motivated professional who can take initiative without needing constant supervision.
Understanding of food safety regulations and a genuine respect for kitchen hygiene.
Creativity, passion, and the ability to bring a touch of personality to every dish you serve.
